We all know how hard it is to be a business owner. I left my job when I had a 5 week old, decided to jump and here I am almost 3 years later with a growing business and loving what I do every day.
But I also know how hard it is – the long days, the longer nights, the stress of working with clients/suppliers/competitors etc. It is hard. But would you go back to being an employee, with no control and no ability to live your dream every day?
I know that sometimes I think seriously about giving up. Particularly at 33 weeks pregnant with a 2.5 year old and a juvenile business – it would be easy to stay ‘I’m done’ and return to the world of employment.
But would I jump out of bed everyday ready to face the world, get excited when I meet a new client or celebrate when a client of mine has a win? Probably not.
Not that I believe employees are lazy or don’t have motivation –but some of us need more than the daily grind. We need a finishing line that keeps moving and changing to keep us focused – we need challenges!
Why business owners are AMAZING and CRAZY
I only recently came across Winston Churchill’s quote ‘ If you’re going through hell, keep going’ and it made me realise – yes sometimes my days are hell.
I don’t know how I’m going to get through my to do list, I am chasing for unpaid invoices, the list goes on! But I don’t want this hell to end – I LOVE it. It makes me happy, it keeps me inspired and I want to inspire my children to be anything they want to be.
So remember – yes being a business owner/entrepreneur is HARD work. We resign from a 37.5 hour week and start working a 90 hour week. And yet I can’t remember the last time I went home and said to my husband ‘I hate my job’ or ‘I’m dreading Monday’.
It never happens, so I will continue to go through hell and keep going – and LOVE every minute of it.
